If you're looking for an online bank that is easy to use, secure and doesn't charge you absurd fees, chances are you've ended up looking at Revolut.

Revolut started out as a simple card for cheap travel, but by 2025 it is practically a complete bank with Spanish IBAN, The new card, physical and virtual card, savings space, cashback and many features that other traditional banks can't even dream of offering.

What makes the difference:

  • Spanish IBAN (not Lithuanian).
  • Instant EU transfers.
  • Cheap international payments.
  • Full control from the app.
  • Subscriptions such as Uber One, Tinder, NordVPN... depending on your plan.

In a nutshell: Revolut makes your life easier.

Advantages of Revolut in 2025

2.1. Spanish IBAN and online 100% account

You can open it in 3 minutes from your cell phone and use it as your main account without any problem.

2.2. Disposable virtual card

Perfect for paying online without fear. Each purchase uses a different number.

2.3. Traveling is much, much cheaper

You pay in foreign currencies without hidden commissions. Ideal if you travel in Europe or abroad.

2.4. Full control from the app

Automatic categories, statistics, rounding to save money, instant notifications...

Much better than traditional banks.

2.5. Included subscriptions (Premium and Ultra)

Here comes one of the strongest points:

  • Premium brings: Perplexity, NordVPN, Tinder, Uber One, among others.
  • Ultra brings: access to VIP lounges, premium insurance and more international services.

If you already pay for these subscriptions separately, with Premium or Ultra you are earning money.

2.6. Security at another level

Freeze/thaw card, instant limits, cybersafe, notifications, biometric verification...

3. Disadvantages of Revolut (what they don't tell you)

3.1. Some features are limited in the free plan

The free account is fine, but many top features (such as the included subscriptions) are Premium o Ultra.

3.2. No physical offices

If you prefer to talk to someone face to face, you won't be able to do so here.

Although in my experience, the chat support is responsive and fast.

3.3. Monthly foreign exchange limits

In the free plan you have a monthly limit.

For many users this is no problem, but if you travel a lot it can fall short.

Is Revolut safe in 2025?

Yes. Revolut operates as regulated credit institution in Spain, and your money is protected.

In addition, the security options in the app are better than in most traditional banks.

For example, you can:

  • Turn off the card with a touch.
  • Allow only online payments or only withdrawals.
  • Generate virtual cards that are destroyed after payment.
  • Receive instant alerts of any movement.

5. Revolut plans in 2025: which one is right for you?

5.1. Revolut Standard (free)

Perfect if you want to try Revolut or use it only for occasional travel.

Revolut Plus

It adds better limits and a little more security.

5.3. Revolut Premium

This is the plan I recommend the most because includes subscriptions that you already pay for separately.

If you use Uber One, Tinder or NordVPN, Premium is practically the same as Uber One, Tinder or NordVPN. free.

Revolut Ultra

For frequent travelers, VIP access at airports, premium insurance and extra benefits.

6. My experience using Revolut (2024-2025)

In my case, I use Revolut on a daily basis and these are the things that have helped me the most:

  • I can see every expense instantly.
  • Traveling is cheaper and without surprises.
  • I can pay for subscriptions without fear using virtual cards.
  • The Spanish IBAN avoids problems with payments and direct debits.
  • With Premium I pay less than before because it comes with several subscriptions included.

After months of use, I have stopped using other traditional banks for my day to day life.

The experience is easier, faster and cheaper.
